For larger commercial or industrial vibratory tumbling of larger loads, the Diamond Pacific Vibro-Sonic VSV series are a medium-duty tumblers in capacities up to 50 lbs, and the VT series are ultra-heavy-duty tumblers built to withstand serious processing duties using cast-aluminum reinforced Viking Hoppers. For small loads, consider Diamond Pacific's Mini-Sonic tumbler line. If minimal shape change is desired compared to the rounding grinding action of these rotary tumblers, vibratory tumblers are also available for home and professional use. A load that is more or less than 3/4 full WILL NOT produce proper tumbling action. It is important to load your barrel to approximately 3/4 full, regardless of material and including fillers, abrasives and water. A more accurate capacity of the barrel is given by volume. The weight of the rocks and materials varies, so load capacities listed by weight are approximate and for comparison only. When getting started, purchase a starter grit kit and top off with bulk silicon carbide grits or other tumbling abrasives and polishes as needed. Tumbling is an art and a science and will require experimentation and practice to perfect your recipes for various materials. Your stones or parts should be sorted for compatible size, shape, and hardness to ensure uniform sanding and polishing.
